Grievances Redressal Committee

Overview

Any organization needs a grievance redressal procedure in order to run efficiently. It gives students a way to voice their issues and have them fairly and impartially addressed.
In accordance with UGC norms, the College Grievance Redressal Committee was established to handle student issues. The Principal is in charge of the Committee, which also includes representatives from the student body and senior teachers.
Grievances from the Principal are received by the Committee, which investigates them based on the gravity of the problem. The members of the Committee work hard to promptly and effectively address any complaints in order to foster an environment that is welcoming and peaceful for all students on campus.

Objectives

  • To design a grievance resolution procedure for employees and students.
  • To give staff and students instant access to grievance redressal.
  • To look at the reasons behind the unhappiness.
  • To impart to students an understanding of their obligations

Functions of the Grievance and Redressal Committee

  • To get formal grievances about the system from staff and students
  • To create and implement a procedure for handling the complaints that have been filed.
  • To send the findings to management for any further action that may be required.
  • To immediately and completely hear, document, and look into complaints from teachers and students, as well as to take appropriate action.
  • To rank complaints according to their veracity and gravity.
  • To send complaints to the appropriate department, such as facilities, academics, maintenance, or transportation.
  • To schedule frequent meetings to evaluate the grievances' state of resolution.
  • To keep checking in on these problems until they are finally fixed.
  • To maintain the privacy of the complaints, if required.

Procedures

  • If a student is upset and wants to file a grievance or grievances, they should first apply to the Coordinator and provide a copy of their application to the Principal. After reviewing the material submitted, the Coordinator will work to quickly address the grievance—ideally, within a week of the student's application being received. The student should next present the issue to the committee members if they are still unhappy with the Coordinator's choice or outcome.
  • The chairperson will bring the topic before the committee members for discussion after confirming the facts and reviewing pertinent documentation. After reviewing the application, the Committee will endeavor to support the Coordinator's decision or issue an appropriate order in the most efficient manner, all within a reasonable timeframe—ideally, within 10 days
  • After the chairperson and committee members have given their approval, the principal will notify the student of the final decision. Should it be considered essential, the Committee could suggest to the Principal any necessary remedial measures to stop similar complaints from happening again inside the organization.
  • The Committee upholds the ideals of natural justice throughout the complaint handling procedure by giving the complainant and pertinent parties a chance to be heard and share their viewpoints.
  • The Committee shall consider relevant provisions of the Act/Regulations when rendering a decision on any grievance and shall ensure that no order is made that would conflict with such requirements.
  • The student can either personally deliver their grievance or appeal application to the Coordinator or place it in the box.
